"Love Letter to Edie" is a glimpse into the life of famed underground performance artist, Edith Massey.
Also known as Edy Massey, Edie Massey or The Egg Lady she was a popular underground movie actress, live performer, recording artist and model in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
Edie starred in the John Waters films Multiple Maniacs,Pink Flamingos, Female Trouble, Desperate Living and Polyester. Her co-stars included Divine, Mink Stole, Tab Hunter, Stiv Bators, David Lochary, Cookie Mueller and Mary Vivian Pierce. "Love Letter to Edie" features John Waters, Mink Stole, Susan Lowe, Vince Peranio, Delores DeLuxe, Pat Moran and other Dreamland Studio artistes. The work and life of Edith Massey continue to influence new generations of creative artists on the cultural edge. She is an icon of the offbeat and an inspiration to all naturally gifted performers who "wish upon a star."

Maier-- line producer of John Waters' classic films: "Desperate
Living," "Polyester" and "Hairspray." It is
a Portable Films production.
Edith was
a true American character actor, beloved my millions of underground
movie fans. "Love Letter to Edie" has played around
the world-- to rave reviews and appears on many "10 Best Short
Films of All Time" lists.
Originally filmed in 1974-75, "Love Letter to Edie" was digitally remastered in 2003, from the filmmaker's personal, camera original 16mm film rolls, using the latest film-to-tape digital transfer and color correction equipment. VHS copies distributed by Hit'n Run Video have been out of print for several years.
